Ashkan Mowla, MD
Dr. Mowla is board-certified neurologist with advanced training in stroke and interventional neuroradiology.
His clinical practice focuses on the comprehensive care of patients with cerebrovascular diseases, such as ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, brain aneurysm and arteriovenous malformation.
He received his medical degree from Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, Iran followed by an internship at the State University of New York (downstate) affiliated hospitals. He then completed his neurology residency at the Houston Methodist Hospital Neurological Institute in Houston, TX. Upon completion of residency, He did a clinical vascular neurology fellowship at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI for 1 year. He then joined the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo as an assistant professor of neurology for 4 years. During this time, he was very dedicated in teaching fellows, residents and medical students and was heavily involved in residency, fellowship and clerkship curriculum development. He received the prestigious the Louis A. and Ruth Siegel award for excellence in teaching in twice in 2014 and 2016.
During his time at Buffalo, he also published over 40 articles in the prestigious stroke and cerebrovascular diseases journals.
Later on, he completed a 2 year Interventional neuroradiology fellowship at UCLA medical center, Los Angeles, CA.
He is a fellow of American Heart Association/American Stroke Association and also American Academy of Neurology.
