Shushan Khachatryan, MS
Shushan Khachatryan is a Psychotherapist (LMFT 101316), specializing in individual, couples, adolescents, and family therapy. Shushancompleted her undergraduate studies in Psychology at California State University at Northridge and graduate studies at University of La Verne, where she received a degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. She completed 3000 plus hours of internship work at California Mental Health Connection in Baldwin Park. During the 3 years of internship, she has treated many individuals and families suffering from variety of mental health issues and received several recognitions and awardsfrom the U.S. congress and city.
Shushan was awarded Certificate of Recognition by Baldwin Park City Council, Mayor Manuel Lozano, in recognition of her collaboration and dedication to the residents and community members, and for her work to educate families on mental health awareness and for the out-patient services she provided to the community.California Assembly Member, Roger Hernandez recognized Shushan for her outstanding service and steadfast dedication in ensuring families and community members receive therapeutic program assistance and for her continued efforts in providing residents with a supportive and safe environment for a full recovery.
In addition to being a compassionate psychotherapist, Shushan has presented at conferences and to general audiences speaking on the topics of depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction and, mental health. She has been expert guest speaker at multiple colleges and universities as well as live television discussing variety of mental health topics. She has received numerous awards and recognitions such as being nominated for Woman of the Year 2016 by the honorable Congresswoman Grace Napolitano and Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez. Shushan has been an active member of Congresswoman Grace Napolitano’s Mental Health Consortium where she advised the congresswoman on mental health issues and policy. Shushanwas honored by Congresswoman Napolitano for her work to educate our communities about Mental Health issues, her commitment to share resources with Mental Health professionals and to help remove the stigma for individuals facing these challenges.
Research in the area of mental health and relationships has always been of interest to Shushan. She and her team conducted community based research on “Homicide Prevention and Re-Victimization of Domestic Violence Victims” that was presented at the Dissemination, Implementation & Improvement Science Symposium. To better understand romantic relationships with the advancement of technology, Shushan and her team conducted a study to better understand the attraction of online dating amongst college students. She presented her research at Western Psychological Association Conference
Shushan is an interactive, cognitive behavioral and solution-focused therapist who is also experienced in psychodynamic therapy and uses it depending on the patient’s needs. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help patients effectively address personal life challenges. Her goal is to assist patients in their journey of working towards their potential and improving their well-being. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
